DIY: Oz Fest

I procured this adorable little figurine of the Wicked Witch of the East who was crushed by Dorthy's house in The Wizard of Oz. Classic movie and it inspired me to try this dualistic nail design. One one hand is a Sally Henson color in "Red Carpet" which is an EXACT match to the paint on those iconic ruby slippers and on the other are the black and white striped hosiery of the evil witch. I used a french manicure white pen--also by Sally Henson--for the tights. I also painted my toes Emerald City green or "San Francisco" by Sinful Colors.

Fashion FALLward

Fall is in the air. I can see it, I can smell it, and now I can officially wear it. I, as a full-figured girl, have always most enjoyed the fashions of Autumn. Boots, scarves, layers, they all serve the voluptuous woman well. The tradition of this season that I am not so much a fan of are the naturally drab colors that come along with it. Vibrant colors are fun and such a mood changer. I'll miss throwing on an acid yellow tank and jeans and some flip flops. Those days are long gone, especially here in Chicagoland. Although the fair wheather is out, lucky for me COLOR is still IN! In looking through the glossies, I am still spotting the bright pinks, yellows, blues, and greens of seasons gone by. It is very inspiring and VERY RecessionISTA. This means more milage out of those bright tops, shoes, and acessories.

My thing: I'm am really feeling white jeans for some reason. I do not own a pair but I am on the lookout. I have these cobolt blue suede shoes that would just be--excuse my 90s slang--bitchin' with skinny white jeans and acid yellow cardigan that I just purchaced. I'm feeling it! I will post this outfit when it comes together for me.

Hair, Hair, and NO Hair!

So I have been recently hair obsessed (yet again) and have been doing some blogging and vlogging research. I love my natural hair but I have had some hurdles in my journey to "good hair." One good tip I have found for keeping my hair soft at night is to wrap a plastic bag around it at night over my bonnet. I then tie another scarf around the bag so I don't get all that crunching while trying to sleep. Day 1 has been yeiled AMAZING results. My hair is ULTRA SOFT and like someone said in a you tube video, you just fluff and go! I will continue to do this every other night of the week probably. On the nights that I oil my scalp with my hair growth mixture recipe from MowtownGirl. And speaking of hair growth. . .

Edges, Edges, Edges! Mine are fried! I beleive it's a condition of heridity and harsh relaxing from back in the day (either case,I can blame my mother). So I learned from the same youtube video that castor oil is some kind of miricle oil when it comes to hair growth. I've never had good experiences with castor oil (in this case I blame my grandmother for introducing me to this wonderful remedy for the common cold--may she rest in peace) So thinking of this oil makes me wanna puke. I can get past that if it really works to regrow my edges! We shall see. . .
